LYRE
Lyra belongs to the category of bowed-instruments, and is named by Arabic researchers during the mediaeval
as Manatza-roum.
It is used in the islands and mainland of Greece, in the Balcanic and in other countries of middle east.
The word Roum (distraction of the word Rome) for Arabic and Persian people and the rest of Asia, is used when
they were referred to the Byzantium and the West.
For Asian people this word is used when they are referred to the whole West worlds.
The word kamantza-roum is used for the characterization of a type of instrument that is widespread
in the Byzantium and which is named 'lura' by the Persian excursionist Ibn Khurdadhbich.
